Frequently Asked Questions for Education Evaluations
We accept…
- Original transcripts and diplomas
- Official transcript and diploma copies sent directly from the issuing institution to the AEQUO Office.
However, we offer an alternative option called Education Verification which allows you to upload your documents electronically for an additional fee that will need to be paid separately from the international evaluation fee.
Typically, our evaluations are completed within 10 business days after all required materials are received. However, credentials that must be sent out for verification could add 4-8 weeks to the process before the evaluation is completed. We reserve the right to contact educational institutions or governmental entities for verification of the credential submitted.
You will receive the report as a PDF file uploaded to your online portal.
We retain copies of official transcripts and certificates in electronic format indefinitely.
If your academic institution no longer exists, please contact your Ministry of Education or governmental accrediting body for educational documentation. If you have official copies of your transcripts or diplomas, you may use the Education Verification Service that we offer to upload your documents for verification.
If you disagree with the outcome of your evaluation, you have 60 days from the issue date of the evaluation report to question the content and outcome. Please submit your concerns in writing or by email to our office for review. Allow a minimum of 10 business days for your evaluation report to be reviewed. There is no guarantee that changes will be made to your evaluation report.
If your credentials are under another name, you must send legal verification of all name changes.
Along with your online application for an international credential evaluation, you are required to provide the following:
- Application fee
- Official secondary and/or post-secondary transcripts and diplomas/certificates for all study completed mailed directly from the issuing institution
- Complete set of official English translations for non-English documents
For inquiries on what types of documentation to submit, please contact us.
If your official transcript is not in English, you must have the document translated before our office can process your application. Certified English translations of transcripts, certificates or diplomas must be provided by a member of the American Translators Association (ATA), embassy or consulate of the document’s issuing country. Consulates and embassies often serve as a resource for the attestation of educational documents. The following standards will apply to English translations:
- All information listed on the document must be translated verbatim
- All translations must be prepared using the same format as the original document
- No interpretation or evaluation of information should be included
- All translations must be typed, signed and dated by the translator
- Contact information for the translator must be listed, including address, phone and fax number, and email address
Aequo International offers translations in numerous languages. If we do not offer services for your native language, we prefer translations from Credential Consultants or U.S. Translation Company
The translation is separate from the international evaluation report. The translation only provides the service for document origin language to be translated to English. The international evaluation report is also needed to apply for the barbering/cosmetology license. The international evaluation report will equate your education obtained outside the United States to the U.S. equivalence. It will include an authenticity check, school accreditation, and course equation. The documents must be in English for us to perform the international evaluation report.
